| Video Discription | Investigating incidents resulting in physical injury has been a mainstay of many safety management systems, with the development and implementation of effective tools and techniques revealing causative pathways and identifying remedial actions for improving prevention. But when an occupational disease is diagnosed, such as work-related poor mental health or exposure to carcinogens, are the same tools and techniques applied? Join us for this pivotal ICOH Scientific Committee for Accident Prevent and IOSH webinar seeking to explore if current safety management systems afford occupational health conditions the same degree of rigorous investigation and intervention as other workplace incident. Dr Karen Michell, Chair of ICOH SCAP, will be joined by Dr Odette Volmink of The National Institute for Occupational Health; Mireya Rifá Fabregat, ENSHPO President; Dr David Thomas of Middlesex University and Susan Donnelly of HSE. Having spent their lives developing and enhancing preventative measures and incident investigation, our panel will explore how organisations might adapt their incident investigation processes. In this regard they will address the occupational health conditions developed and focus on who should be involved in the investigation and in what capacity. They will discuss how to overcome any potential barriers and how the findings of investigations into occupational health incidents help to develop a positive occupational health and safety culture.
