His father Chennimalai was a farmer. Jyotimani lost her father in her childhood. He was brought up by his mother Muthulakshmi in Udumalaipet Sri G. V. G. She completed her BA in Mathematics from Visalakshi College for Women. Elected student union president in college. He was an active participant in NSS camps and social service work during his college days. Degree, • (2003) Master of Arts, • (2005) Master of Philosophy from Annamalai University and Bharathiyar University. He was a member of the Tamil Nadu Film Censor Board from 2006 to 2009. He is also fluent in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and English. Entering politics at the age of 22, Jyotimani became active in the Indian Youth Congress and became a good acquaintance of Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi. He has participated in the 2006 Asian Young Leaders Summit in the US and the 2009 Young Political Leaders Summit in Malaysia as President of the Indian Youth Congress. Vital Voices, an organization under the UN Council, annually invites one female political leader from each of the major countries to the United States for a conference. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, he contested the Karur parliamentary seat on behalf of the Indian National Congress Party and won against the AIADMK candidate Thambidurai by a margin of 4 lakh 20,546 votes. Congress MP from Kashmir to Kanyakumari Karur Congress MP has been given the responsibility of coordinating the unity drive led by Rahul Gandhi.
