He was initiated in 1970 and spent five years in the ashrams of AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. He studied Sanskrit with the Benares Pundit Prof. Ramanath Sharma, Jyotish with the illustrious Jyotirvid M.K. Gandhi. In addition, he assisted his guru in editing various books, including the Bhagavat Purana.
