| Video Discription | I remember my mother watching this movie back around 2015 together. Around the time I had started making online international penpals, one of which was a kind woman who had many kids and ran a taekwondo studio. I became interested in the culture and language of Korea. My mother told me in fear after watching this movie, "Please just promise me you won't marry a foreigner." I told my mother that most countries signed the Hague convention and that these situations don't happen anymore. Little did I know, flash forward, almost 15 years later, Korea, a country that signed the Hague convention, isn't even upholding the principles of it within their borders. For parents whose children have been abducted from their country of residence to South Korea, or parents whose children were withheld by a spouse in Korea, the reality is Korean law enforcement and legal systems make it nearly impossible to retrieve children. When you raise your voice or ask what to do, your questions are often met with "just get a lawyer."" The legal system needs to do better.
