He is the fifth Tory to be investigated in the growing betting scandal, which now includes a range of MPs and police officers. It follows the announcement of a probe by the Gambling Commission into bets made on the date of the General Election. A Labour candidate, Kevin Craig, has also been suspended from his party after placing a bet on himself to lose.
