The USB-2404-UI supports 4 channels of simultaneous inputs with a sample rate of 100 S/sec/chan. The supported signal types are current, voltage, resistance, thermocouples, RTDs, and bridge sensors. Included with the USB-2404-UI is our "Out of the Box" TracerDAQ software for displaying data and saving data to disk. Easy to use drivers are also included for DASYLab, NI LabVIEW and Visual Studio. Today, I am using a temperature sensor that outputs a 4-20 mA signal. The sensor is wired to the Hi and Lo terminals of the USB-2404-UI. The current is computed from the voltage that the USB-2404-UI measures across its internal precision shunt resistor. Next we configure the USB-2404-UI using the included InstaCal application. We select the signal type here and verify that our sensor connections are correct. Then with the TracerDAQ software we set up the data collection session. Here you select the Daq device and other parameters like the sample rate. The USB-2404-UI supports a +- 25 mA input range. My sensor outputs a 4-20 so I am going to change my low end limit to match my sensor output. You can easily do this by double clicking on the value and typing in your new value. You can now see the data scrolling across the display and as we heat the sensor see the current increase.
