Manila Bay Beach or the Manila Bay Sands is an urban artificial beach located in Manila, Philippines and the 500 meter beach front development is expected to cost PHP 400 Million. It is situated along Manila Bay and is made from crushed dolomite rocks which were transported from Cebu. Work on the artificial beach began as early as August 2020, the project has received criticism from environment and heritage conservationist groups. Among these include the timing of the project which was implemented amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and concerns of adverse environmental effects caused by dumping dolomite on the polluted Manila Bay. The Manila Bay Beach was first opened to the public from September 19 to 20, 2020. It was closed again for expansion and has reopened on October 16, 2021.
