| Video Discription | Marie (Jeanne Goupil) is a 17-year-old who was orphaned as a young girl. As a result, she has a tad of arrested development that makes her act much younger than her age. Her grandparents have raised her and one day she looks in a store window displaying various dolls. Claude (André Dussollier), the affluent store owner, sees her and becomes infatuated which eventually leads to her and him meeting one day. He invites Marie to go to his house and look at his doll collection and she accepts. He loves dolls. She loves dolls. It is seemingly a match made in heaven, which turns into a kind of purgatory for Marie when, with the grandparents approval, they get married. The director Joël Séria, though his overall output is not overwhelmingly great, needs to be rediscovered. This film along with ‘Mais ne nous délivrez pas du mal’ and ‘Les galettes de Pont-Aven' are classics of French cinema that seem to be not very well known by the cinephiles.The soundtrack was composed by the french composer Philippe Sarde, the same year as he did the music of The Tenant (Le locataire) of Roman Polanski, 1976.
