Both countries are major importers of Ethiopia's fresh goat's meat and mutton. 60% of Ethiopian meat makes it way to the UAE, 38% to Saudi Arabia, and the remaining 2% to other Middle Eastern countries. Consultation forums have been carried out with suppliers to enhance the quality of meat, as well as ongoing training for workers in abattoirs. Ethiopia's government aims to boost earnings from meat exports to over $150 M in the current fiscal year.
