| Video Discription | The Renaissance of Griffintown, One of the Trendiest Neighborhood in Montreal, QC, Canada -- About Griffintown Over the past decade, Griffintown has transitioned from an industrial area into a trendy residential area located minutes away from Montreal's downtown core. Today, Griffintown is a buzzing, creative area with a mix of converted warehouses and condo developments. Griffintown is located between Highway 10 (Bonaventure Expressway) and Georges-Vanier from east to west, and from the Lachine Canal and Notre Dame Street from north to south. -- A brief history of Griffintown Griffintown was named after Mary Griffin. Mary was a businesswoman who bought land in this area in the early 1800s. Back in those days, Griffintown was actually called Nazareth fief. Griffin divided the property into separate lots in 1804. The name Griffintown was favored by the locals and has since remained so for more than 200 years. Some of the area’s buildings are industrial, remains of manufacturing days, but many have been demolished and replaced with condos. -- Griffintown Attraction This trendy neighborhood offers many attractions. • Trendy restaurants and antique shops on Notre Dame street • Quebec's largest engineering school ETS at 33 Peel street • The art gallery Arsenal • New City Gas dance club with DJs, live events and an outdoor space • The bike path along the Lachine Canal I highly recommend visiting Griffintown to explore the area and learn its history.
