SOUNDBITE (Urdu) Wasey Jalil, spokesperson for Muttahida Qaumi movement: "A few unidentified people came on a motorcycle and they opened fire at the car of Manzar Imam from all around and all four persons, including two bodyguards, a driver and Manzar Imam were martyred at the spot. They were brutally martyred." 12. Wide of ambulance leaving STORYLINE: Unknown gunmen attacked the vehicle of Manzar Imam in Karachi on Thursday, killing the provincial lawmaker, his bodyguards and driver. Imam belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), a political party which is an ally of ruling Pakistan People's Party. The MQM is the dominant political party in Karachi. Gunmen thought to have arrived on a motorcycle opened fire at Imam's vehicle killing all the four of the people inside included Imam's driver and two bodyguards, a spokesman for the party said. Hundreds of mourners gathered within and around the mortuary building where Imam was taken following the attack. His father wept over the body of his son as photographers captured the emotionally charged scene. MQM spokesperson, Wasey Jalil said that all four were "brutally martyred." Hundreds of people have died in the city in recent months in targeted killings.
