He made the above mentioned statement in a seminar organized by the Orthoniti Samity in Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka, on Saturday 4 January 2014. Dr. Muhhamed Zafar Iqbal addressed those who want to cancel the poll by saying that they need to stop the violence first then worry about election. When asked about the war criminals, he stated, " This is very easy and this is right. Those who are firltered by the Liberation War; they get our supposrt." He also stated that people are concorened about the general poll. However, he questions the demand to cancel election. He asks wheather the election needs to be canceled to bring Jamat into the equation. 'Why isn't the news papers talking about the ongoing violence instead of cancelling the election?' is a question Dr. Muhhamed Zafar Iqbal has mentioned. "Bangladesh has been established. Now that it is, the NGOs are talking about cancelling polls. We know why they side with canceling election. We also have to how these NGOs are run." He addresses the young generation, " If you love your country, you have to take responsibility. Take the roads, when necessary. Don't go for Awami League or BNP; go for Bangladesh. Remember, '71 was won by the young generation of this country." He also says, " I do not have an account on Facebook. But it hurts me when respectable papers qutoe pages like 'Basher Kella' to stop National Poll." "If I could meet the elite news editors, I would tell them; when a person is killed, we have to know why s/he is being killed. Is it for election? Or is it for to cancel war criminals' election. I don't want to be an elite intellectualist. I'm shy." On the topic of the Eurpean Union not visiting the National Martyrs' Monument ( Sriti Shoudho) Dr. Iqbal says, " I noticed that the white people didn't visit the National Martyrs' Monument this year. We need to come out from the clasp of the white people. We have to stand on our own." Quoting a conversation Dr. Zafar Iqbal had with someone from the Canadian High Commission, he states that, " To the question why only people from BNP and Jamat are being put to justice; I'll say, Awami Leauge led the Liberation War. So, they didn't have a chance to work against th country." The sminar 'Violent Politics, Country and Future in Despair' was conducted by the commitee's president Abdul Barkat. The seminar was attended by Sabbyasachi writer Syed Shamsul Haq, economist khalikuzzaman Ahmed, ex-Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Forasuddin Ahmed, chairman of University Grants Commission, A.K Azad Chowdhury, VC of Dhaka University Harun-Or-Rashid, journalist Abed khan and many more elite people from different sectors.
