| Video Discription | The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department held a news conference Friday afternoon to discuss recent armed robbery investigations and ask for public assistance in locating a suspect that is believed to be responsible for a recent rash of armed robberies. On Wednesday, Jan. 18, officers responded to an armed robbery at a Walgreens on the 7100 block of East W.T. Harris Blvd. After the suspect fled the scene in a car, CMPD believes that the same individual committed four additional robberies after robbing Walgreens, using several different cars. At this point, CMPD deployed extra resources and put a BOLO out for the suspect, as stated in the news conference. CMPD was able to locate and arrest the armed robbery suspect, who they identified as Jamaris Smith, early Thursday. The suspect has been charged with 6 counts of armed robbery and 2 counts of kidnapping.
