The barren landscape of this valley closely resembles Spiti/Ladakh and Tibet more than the green hills of Uttarakhand, hence the name. :) It is still a lesser explored, offbeat destination in Uttarakhand due to the permit restrictions. Enjoy the adventure and do let us know in the comments below if you like it. Nelang (or Nelong) Valley was recently opened (2015) for Indian citizens. It was closed during the 1962 Indo China war. There is no road as such, but rather a dirt track which gets incredibly narrow at places. One of the most treacherous roads in the Himalayas.
