In 1834, Prussian immigrant Charles Zimpel created this map of New Orleans and its surroundings. An accident led to a delay in printing the maps, and the existing prints became an artifact of history. One of a few remaining copies hung in the entry foyer of the Williamses historic French Quarter residence, until it was replaced by a facsimile for preservation reasons.
