Source: https://gothamtogo.com/ Today, Sunday, July 23rd, more than 50 people of all shapes, sizes, genders, ethnicities, and ages will get fully nude and be body painted in the public streets of New York City. This year’s theme is “The Artist’s Voice,” encouraging each participating artist to share their unique vision with the world. Golub, the event organizer, explains, “The perspective of the artist, whether it’s a painter, musician, dancer, or poet, is an essential voice if we’re ever going to bring peace to this world.” “The message is simply that we’re all the same. But Bodypainting Day is not just an idea, it’s an experience. To see people who are so different come together so seamlessly is magical,” Golub adds. “I’ve heard countless times how this event has had a profound impact on people’s lives.” Golub said he's retiring it after 10 years because it’s time to find new ways to bring people together, empower them, and be open to other points of view." Fifty talented artists from around the world will paint 75 nude models. After four hours of live body painting from Noon to 4pm in Union Square Park, participants will march through the public streets of Greenwich Village, take part in a photo shoot at Washington Square Park, ride a double-decker bus over the Manhattan Bridge, and conclude the day with a blow-out after-party in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
