| Video Discription | Watch how to make delicious Challah Bread. This Challah is absolutely amazing, takes a little bit of effort to make, but it is 100% worth it. This Challah Bread recipe is a chance for you to make art, and I will show you how to. Ingredients: • 2tsp yeast (6g) • 200ml lukewarm water (97F / 36C) • 3-4tbsp honey (50g) • 2 eggs, room temperature + 1 egg for egg wash • 3tbsp olive oil (40ml) • 4 cups flour (500g) • 1 1/2 tsp salt (9g) Bake 350F (180C) for 24-28min 1. Add yeast to a lukewarm water (95-100F or 36C) 2. Add honey and mix. Let the yeast bloom for 10-15 mins 3. In a separate bowl whisk eggs, add olive oil 4. Once your yeast has bloomed (yeast has been dissolved, bubbling on top), add it to the eggs and oil 5. To a bowl with sifted flour, add salt and whisk well. 6. Add flour to the yeast/egg mixture gradually - 4-5 tbsp at a time 7. Mix and add more flour 8. Once you can no longer mix it with a spoon, it is time to work with your hands * If you have a stand mixed, you can totally make your life easier and just use it 9. Knead dough until it becomes elastic. If the dough being too stick after 10mins of kneading, add 1 tbsp of extra flour. Don't add to much or your dough will become too tight 10. Once dough is smooth, place in an oiled bowl, cover with a plastic cling and let it rest for 1 hour in a warm place. (best place is to put it in the oven and turn the light on) 11. Deflate the dough, place it on your working surface and shape into a ball 12. PLEASE USE A SCALE. Place your dough on a scale. Divide the total number by 12 (this is how many strings we will need for 2 challah breads) 13. Divide your dough into 12 even pieces (PLEASE USE A SCALE TO MEASURE THE EXACT WEIGHT) 14. Roll each piece into a ball, place on a lightly floured baking sheet, cover with a damp towel and let them rest for 15 mins 15. Shape a ball into a square with your fingers. Then roll it into a string until it reaches 10 inches (25cm). Please watch the video to see exactly how to roll the strings 16. Place each string on to a lightly floured surface (keep it covered with a damp towel if making this recipe for the first time) 17. Once you have 6 strings, it is time to braid the Challah bread. PLEASE WATCH VIDEO FOR DIRECTIONS 18. Place Challah bread on to the baking sheet and cover with an egg wash (whisk one egg until smooth and even), cover with an oiled cling 19. Make the second Challah bread, cover with egg wash and oiled cling 20. Let them rest for 2 hours in a warm spot 21. Remove the cling and cover with an egg wash one more time 22. Add sesame seeds, if wanted 23. Bake in a preheated oven (350F/180C) for 24-28 mins. Mine took 24 mins because my over is smaller. 24. Enjoy!
