The Prequels’ depictions of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in particular have seen a lot of retrospective praise, especially in light of how Star Wars: The Clone Wars recontextualized their characters. But one of the Prequels’ main characters hasn’t gotten nearly as much love as the others - Padmé Amidala. In the final cut of the Prequel films, Padmé isn’t nearly as noticeable a character as the likes of Anakin or Obi-Wan, and though Star Wars: The Clone Wars did her character justice, she’s still overshadowed by the era’s flashier heroes. But Padmé is a much deeper and more significant character than many fans lend credence to. She’s not only ideologically compelling, a much-needed counterweight to the egomania of Palpatine, but also arguably the greatest hero in the Star Wars saga, and in this video we’ll be explaining why.
