The series theme song, "Shanghai Beach," is very popular throughout Asia and originally was sung and made famous by Hong Kong singer Frances Yip. However, in this music clip, I am featuring the version by one of my favorite Hong Kong actors/singers/film producers, Andy Lau. Andy recorded this song in 1996. 'Though I've never watched this series, I've always liked its theme song. It's one of my all-time favorite Chinese melodies. I've translated the main meaning (thus, it's not a word-for-word translation) of the song into English to the best of my ability so that my AMP friends worldwide may have an understanding of what the song is about. The song is sad, yet beautiful, isn't it? Love is surely like the tidal waves... and "my heart has endured enough of the raises and falls in love and in life..." as this song is referring to. How many of us can relate to that? Chow Yun-fat's name also climbed to huge success with his role in this series.
