| Video Discription | The keratinized epithelium is of two types orthokeratinized and parakeratinized epithelium. In the orthokeratinized epithelium the surface layer does not contain any nuclei. While in the parakeratinized epithelium the surface layer stains for keratin but shrunken nuclei are present in cells. The orthokeratinized epithelium mostly lines the vermilion zone of the lip and parts of gingiva. The hard palate is mostly parakeratinized while parts of gingiva has parakeratinized layer.
