| Video Discription | This video teaches how to create a torso sloper, using muslin, which is a foundation for dress patterns. It starts with measuring and cutting fabric for the front and back pieces of the sloper. How to: Preparing the muslin 00:02 Measure amount of fabric needed for the length of the muslin to be made. Snip and tape the fabric so you don't lose track of which is the length and the width grain 00:30 Draw arrows parallel to the selvage on the inside with a pencil. Then tear the selvages off 00:45 Measure the size of the garment to be made across the width plus a few extra inches. Snip and tear to flatten the edges and pre-shrink the fabric with a steam iron 01:00 Check the corners to see if they are perpendicular. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and press the crease. This will be the center front crease 01:30 Open the fabric up and press again 2:00 Measure off what you need for one of the back pieces from the remaining muslin Steam and press the fabric flat 03:00 Take another piece of muslin to make the second half of the back piece. Press and pre-shrink with the steam iron 03:30 Fold fabric in half and check to see if the corners all meet. If a corner is short, pull the short edge and its diagonal opposite in that direction to even out the fabric Marking the bodice on the muslin 04:00 Steam the fabric again 04:30 Take the first piece, the front piece and open it up.
