Homemade Nandos Peri Peri Sauce | Nandos Style Peri Sauce Recipe
WHAT IS PERI PERI SAUCE?
Homemade Nando’s Peri Peri sauce is a spicy hot sauce recipe which is made with African Birds eye chilli. With the addition of fresh lemon juice added, it also gives out a tangy flavour. Peri Peri sauce can be used mainly in three ways as a marinade, basting, or as a Dipping sauce and is mainly paired with chicken, as you will find in the well know restaurant chain Nando’s. Peri Peri can also be referred to as piri piri or pili pili in parts of Africa.
WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN NANDO’S PERI PERI SAUCE RECIPE?
There are so many variations of Peri Peri sauce recipes, this one is pretty close to the traditional African recipe. . To make the authentic Peri Peri Sauce, you must use African Birds eye chillis, if It's difficult to get, then other chilli would also work fine, I used whole red chillis in this recipe, the other main ingredient in Peri Peri Sauce is thyme, in this version I'm using mixed herbs, or you can just use oregano, this sauce is Spicy and tangy, thick, with a beautiful orange colour. You can adjust the Spice level to your taste, depending on how many more or less chillis you want to add.

Here’s the ingredients you will need first to make Nandos style Peri Peri Sauce.
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
8 whole round chillies soaked in water
1 small Red onion chopped
3 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
1.5 Tbsp Paprika Powder
1.5 Tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
3 Green Chillis
7 Garlic Cloves
1 Medium Red Bell Pepper
1 Tbsp Mixed Herbs or you can just add oregano
1 Tbsp Salt or to added taste
1 Tsp Sugar
2 Tbsp White Vinegar
Blend all ingredients together to a fine paste in a food processer
HOW LONG CAN YOU KEEP PERI PERI SAUCE IN THE FRIDGE?
you can store the Peri Peri Sauce in an air tight container and it will stay good refrigerated for 2 weeks.
