House Speaker Greg Fergus offered Poilievre multiple chances to withdraw his comments, but the Opposition leader only said that he would replace the word with “radical,” then that he would "simply withdraw and replace" the language with the term "extremist." Fergus then said the Conservative leader was disregarding the authority of the chair, ordering the Conservative leader to withdraw from parliament for the remainder of the day. All Conservative MPs left the chamber in protest after the incident.
