Other diagnostic techniques, such as arthrography, MRI, and ultrasound, can be helpful in establishing the diagnosis. MRI is the preferred modality because it also can show intraarticular pathology. Giant synovial cysts of the calf often are associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Development of acute compartment syndrome as a result of a ruptured Baker cyst and spontaneous venous bleeding have been reported Treatment :1)physiotherapy - stretching knee while standing , stretching calf &foot with knee extended, Quadriceps exercise , hamstring strengthening. 2)Open Surgical Excision Biopsy 3)Arthroscopic debridement. 4)Aspiration in elderly / medically comorbid pt. recurrence rate is high.
