Protesters and members of the press also were seen huddled behind umbrellas as smoke rose from tear gas and stun grenades fired from both local police and federal officers, as some protesters threw the canisters back at the police. U.S. President Donald Trump said earlier in the week that he planned to send federal forces to more 'Democrat' cities, in an effort to crackdown on protests. On Tuesday, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden accused the Trump administration of "egregious tactics,” saying the response by federal agents was stoking divisions in the country. The protests in Oregon have gone on for seven weeks.
