First, I want to clarify that I literally used the word "BEST" strictly for the title, but in reality there is no true BEST! At the end of the day, gaining admission into medical school depends on the individual's performance in college (academic and non-academic) as well as MCAT score, REGARDLESS OF MAJOR! In this video I will cover the most common majors/degrees that pre medical students possess and apply to medical school with! I will also talk about the acceptance rates by major! The acceptance rates allow us to identify out of all the applicants applying with a particular degree, which applicants are ACTUALLY receiving admission into medical school! THIS INFORMATION IS BASED ON 2019-2020 US MD APPLICANTS!! I hope this information helps some of my viewers and followers be able to make an informed decision when choosing their undergraduate major! I know that there is so much concern when it comes to "Which major will increase my chances of getting into medical school?", but the God honest truth is that your major is only a piece of the puzzle! The majority of what will get you into medical school lies within you as a person! How hard will you work? How committed and dedicated will you be? How many classes will you retake in order to improve your GPA? How much time will you spend preparing for the MCAT? How many volunteer hours will you do? Will you do an extra year of school to strengthen your application? Will you apply again, if you aren't accepted the first time? A lof of this journey is PERSON DEPENDENT! Some will need a science background in order to perform well on MCAT and in medical school! Some can major in accounting or English, and blow the competiton out the water!! Which person are you?
