There's nothing worse than leaving the house with a slow puncture or stopping after 5 minutes to tighten your skewers. Daniel has a list of daily (or every ride) checks to perform. It's also important to do a more thorough bike check on a weekly basis. Checking your bike regularly is important, but there's no substitute for taking your bike to a qualified mechanic to service. IF you are unsure or feel that your bike might be unsafe, don't risk it and head to your local bike shop.
