SEPHARDIC: HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU DESCEND FROM JEWISH ?
Have you ever heard that Jews came to Spain a few centuries before our era (more than 2,000 years ago) and that they lived in our country for more than 1,500 years
In many cities they were a very important population group, and they carried out professions that were decisive and fundamental for the development and modernization of Spain at that time (their modern creation was around 1,500 as you all know).
For certain reasons (envy, absurd hatred ...), at some times they were persecuted, and finally, in 1492, the Catholic Monarchs decided their expulsion from Spain, or their conversion to Catholicism - they were given 3 months - (in one of the decisions most erroneous and unjust in all our history).
As Simon Wiesenthal demonstrated, even Christopher Columbus's 3 Caravels, led by Columbus, were totally filled with Sephardic Jewish Spanish people ("Sephardim" comes from the Hebrew word "Sepharad", which means SPAIN).
Many of them emigrated to America, Northern Europe (England, Holland, Central Europe ...), and others to North Africa (Morocco, Tunisia ...) and to Southern Europe and the Middle East (Greece, Turkey, Syria ...).
Many others stayed in Spain, and changed their traditional Sephardic names, for other Castilian and Aragonese names (from Levy, Cohen…. They were renamed Sánchez, García, Gómez, Pérez, Rodríguez, Martín, Bartolomé, De Miguel…., And many other names that are of Sephardic origin today).
Now, 500 years later, many millions of people who either stayed in Spain (in Spain it is estimated that almost the entire population has Sephardic roots, 10, 20, 30% or more, or emigrated to America and other places), They have Jewish, Sephardic blood. Equal about 200 million people or more.
Many others, it is estimated that some 2.5 million or 3, who maintained the Sephardic religion and customs for 5 centuries, now reside in Israel, the United States, Mexico, Canada, France, Great Britain, Argentina, Morocco, Turkey….
For all these reasons, this “recovery of nationality” has always been and continues to be, in the last 100 years, which is a bit always all the legislation on Sephardic Jews (the historical one since 1924 and the Decree of Primo of Rivera, the one of the 40s where thousands of Sephardim were saved from the horror of the Nazis, in the 50s with the Franco Decree, or already since 1981, with the Sephardic Nature Charter or finally, the brilliant parenthesis of the Law 12/2015.
In this way, how can you know that you have Sephardic origin, Jewish origin, Jewish blood?
If you have Castilian or Aragonese surnames, you are going to have it for sure, in one percentage or another.
And, if you are a Sephardic member of a congregation or with Sephardic family origins, from the aforementioned countries, too.
All people who prove this Sephardic origin, through one type of procedure or another, proving it well through genealogy, quality reasoned reports on Sephardic names (lineage), will have the right to opt for Spanish nationality, both by Law 12 / 2015, which has already expired on October 1, 2019, as through the other procedures that have always been in force in one way or another in the past 100 years, and that with each reform legislative, each new development, each new practice of genealogists, experts in these matters, congregations, are enriching every moment.
We can help you with your files, one procedure or another and, if you signed at the notary for more than a year with the 2015 Law, we can defend you with the contentious appeal as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch ? v = qfnFs ...)
Un cordial saludo
, Bezrat Hashem
