Unfortunately, these thoughts can scare us so much, they become associated or connected to the fear response in our brain. Then, they become automatic, obsessive and plague us with relentless anxiety and fear. But, there is good news. Although we cannot directly stop an initial thought from coming into our minds, we can use techniques like the I. A.M. technique to stop the compulsive rumination and “what-if” thoughts. We know how to override these fearful, scary thoughts by rewiring the brain with new neuropathways. We do this through ERP or Exposure Response Prevention therapy. In this video, I will teach you how to stop these thoughts through a simple exposure or ERP technique called, "I. A.M." In this technique, you will learn what to do in the moment when you have an obsessive, intrusive thought.
