Video Discription |
Qinghai, is a province in the North West region of China located south of the Republic of Mongolia, east of Xinjiang, and north of Tibet Auto.
Region in the far northern reaches of the massive Tibetan Plateau.
It is home to many cultures including Tibetan, Muslim, Mongol and Han and is home to the source of the two major rivers of China. It is home to the Tibetan historical province of Amdo.
Qinghai, a province located on the "Roof of the World". It is one of the places closest to the sky, and a pristine land where man and nature co-exist in harmony. A success story is now unfolding in Qinghai about the interactive development between ecological environment and sustainable growth.
Qinghai is a treasure trove of China's ecological resources. The Yellow River, the Yangtze River and the Lancang River originate from here, nourishing the country and the people for generations.
The Origin of the Three Rivers is known as China's "water tower". The Qinghai Lake, an important reservoir of water sources, provides habitat for nearly 300,000 water birds every year.
Here in Qinghai, man and nature have formed a community of shared future where people protect the eco-environment like protecting their eyes.
Qinghai is a highland of China's green development. It is home to China's largest circular economy pilot zone. It boasts the country's largest capacity of renewable energy installation as well as power generation.
Its clean energy supply ranks first around the world. The Beijing Daxing International Airport that recently went into service is powered by clean energy from Qinghai. With a focus on green development, people in Qinghai are making great strides toward high-quality development.
Qinghai is an important hub along the Silk Road Economic Belt. A meeting place of the ancient road linking the capital of Tang Dynasty and Tibet and the Tea-Horse Road, Qinghai connects China with its friendly neighbors to the southwest.
It has witnessed the long-standing friendship between Han and Tibetan ethnic communities. For hundreds of years, people of Han, Tibetan, Mongol and Hui ethnic groups have come together and learned from each other, creating diverse cultures and a great history of ethnic solidarity and common progress.
Today, Qinghai is an active player in the Belt and Road cooperation. More and more China-Europe freight trains are passing through the province. And Qinghai is further expediting opening-up and cooperation with the outside.
Qinghai, owing to its location in the heart of China, close to Mongolia and near the Silk Road, is ethnically mixed - Han, Hui, Kazakh, Mongolian, Tibetans, Tu and Salar inhabit the province.
Most of Qinghai forms the traditional Tibetan province of Amdo. Yushu prefecture, in far southern Qinghai, is a part of the Kham region of Tibet. Outside the two main cities - Golmud and Xining -- population centers are tiny villages and towns, scattered along the desolate Tibetan Plateau.
Qinghai is perhaps China's most scarcely populated province. There are only 5.2 million people in an area bigger than France.
The southern regions of Qinghai sit at an average elevation of over 4000 m (13,120 ft) while the northern regions sit between 2500 m and 3500 m (8200 to 11,500 ft). Qinghai has some of the largest pasturelands in China. Many yaks and sheep are herded by Tibetan and Mongolian nomads.
The prefectures of Haidong and Huangnan consist mostly of farming communities. The far northwest region of Qinghai is home to the Chaidam Basin which is one of the largest deserts in China.
