| Video Discription | Hindi-film director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra recently released his memoir, The Stranger in the Mirror (Rupa Publications, Rs 595), co-written with Reeta Ramamurthy Gupta. Mehra grew up in Old Delhi, lived in The Claridges hotel’s servant's quarters, where his father rose from a dishwasher to F&B manager. A fence-sitter at Delhi University’s SRCC college, to which Mehra gained admission through sports quota (swimming). Mehra couldn’t qualify for the 1982 Asian Games national team (water polo). After a fabrics business, selling vacuum cleaners, and a thriving advertising career, he entered filmmaking. He was part of the 2016 Shyam Benegal Committee on film certification.
