  • TEX Shortstop #5
This certainly qualifies as a surprise since Seager was expected to be ready to roll for Tuesday’s highly-anticipated showdown at Dodger Stadium after getting a couple games off to address some mild hamstring left soreness. The 30-year-old fantasy superstar will miss his fourth straight contest and remains day-to-day for the moment.
  • MIL Shortstop #3
Not great. Ortiz has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last few weeks, batting .298 (31-for-104) with four homers, 15 RBI and three steals over his last 30 games. The hope here is that his absence for Tuesday’s contest against the Blue Jays is merely out of an abundance of caution. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #96
Thorpe will make his highly-anticipated major-league debut on Tuesday evening against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. The 23-year-old top pitching prospect, who was the crown jewel of the preseason Dylan Cease trade with the Padres following his inclusion in the Juan Soto blockbuster with the Yankees a few months earlier, gets the call after posting a microscopic 1.35 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 56/17 K/BB ratio across 60 innings this season for Double-A Birmingham. His fastball isn’t overpowering, but he boasts one of the best change-ups in baseball and figures to miss plenty of bats at the highest level. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats until further notice.
  • TB Left Fielder #56
Not good. Arozarena will presumably undergo some additional imaging after being scratched from the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Cubs to determine the severity of the issue. The 29-year-old corner outfielder has gotten off to an abysmal start to the season with a .604 OPS with eight homers and seven steals across 264 plate appearances in 64 games. There should be an official update on his status shortly. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #22
Mariners manager Scott Servais told reporters Woo is undergoing an MRI on his right forearm and the team is awaiting the results before making a decision on his status. It’ll be lefty Jhonathan Diaz taking the ball for an emergency spot start in his place. The 24-year-old righty has been phenomenal this season, when healthy, compiling a microscopic 1.07 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 24/2 K/BB ratio across 33 2/3 innings (six starts). It’s a bummer for fantasy managers since this was such a tasty matchup, but the positive news is that it sounds like he’s not facing an extended absence for the moment. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #32
Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network adds Brown has been battling the neck issue for the last few weeks and has been sent back to Chicago to undergo additional testing to determine the severity of the issue. There should be some clarity on his status at some point later this week. The 24-year-old righty has been a bright spot this season for the Cubs with a stellar 3.58 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 64/19 K/BB ratio across 55 1/3 innings (15 appearances, eight starts) so far.
  • CIN Third Baseman #33
Ugh. Not great. Encarnacion-Strand has been brought along slowly in his recovery from last month’s right hand fracture and was only recently cleared to resume baseball activities. The 24-year-old slugger has yet to be cleared to resume swinging a bat and it sounds like season-ending surgery hasn’t been ruled out as a potential option to address the ligament damage in his hand. Obviously his long-term health is the greater concern here, but it’s a tough loss for Cinciannti, and fantasy managers, if he’s not coming back this season.
  • PHI Catcher #10
Dombrowski added that Realmuto has opted to undergo surgery later this week after playing through a small meniscus tear in his right knee for an unspecified period. Given the timing of the surgery, it sounds like Realmuto has a chance to return shortly after next month’s All-Star break. The 33-year-old backstop has been a central component of Philadelphia’s remarkable start to the year, thanks to his stellar defensive contributions, while also posting a solid .720 OPS with seven homers and one steal through 51 games.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher
Rodríguez is one of the top pitching prospects in Milwaukee’s system and will take the ball for Tuesday’s contest against the Blue Jays for his major-league debut. The 22-year-old righty gets the call to the big leagues after posting a pedestrian 5.17 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 66/29 K/BB ratio across 62 2/3 innings (12 appearances, 11 starts). There’s clearly some talent here, but fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach. However, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him excel against a floundering Toronto lineup that has yet to really take off this season.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Díaz struck out three batters in a pair of scoreless relief rehab appearances for High-A Brooklyn and will return to fortify the back-end of New York’s bullpen ahead of Thursday’s series finale against the Marlins. The 30-year-old stopper has been on the shelf since late May recovering from a right shoulder impingement.
