It was delayed due to not being able to find a correct wraptail bridge for it, so in the end, I just decided to do it without proper intonation. I have made this guitar the most Gibson'd out Epiphone Pee Wee in existence. It was constantly requested in the last video and I had never heard this song. When I finished recording, I took a quick listen and mashed the 3 or 4 main parts that I really liked into a ‘tribute’ to the song. That song is actually tuned F C F Bb D G which is a minor 3rd higher than standard with the bass E dropped down a tone. It was actually quite fun to play - but I think I have another guitar in my arsenal that I’d like to use to take another stab at it! In the end, is it worth upgrading an Epiphone Miniature Pee Wee Les Paul? My opinion is no. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be. Standard sized parts don’t fit in the existing holes so you’ll have to ream the tuner, pot and cavity holes to make them fit standard parts. If you have a router, that is easy to do, if not, that is another $100 expense. These are fun novelty item and I suggest that you just enjoy them as-is in G tuning and not put any additional money into them. $100-$180 is just right for one of these as a fun ‘toy’ / gag gift. The new tuner’s worked very well once they were ‘set.’ When I first put them on, I was a little disappointed as they seemed to work just as well as the original set. However, after leaving the guitar overnight, the strings finally settled in and stayed in tune much better. Still not perfect, but a new nut would help with that! Even with the best of the best electronics, I still don’t think this guitar sounded ‘terrific.’ I guess it comes down to the scale size at this point.
