| Video Discription | Here are two Lionel outfits (1479WS & 2140WS), that I show how to date and to determine what catalog number the set is and how it is depicted in the original catalogs. The 2140WS was cataloged in both 1948 & 1949 and is one of my favorite passenger sets. The 671 in this set does not have any rims on the drive wheels which indicates 1949 production. The 1479WS was produced in 1952. The 2056 engine is essentially a 2046 engine without the magnitraction. Alnico Nickel needed for magnitraction was in short supply during the Korean War. So Lionel illuminated it from most of the steam train production, but kept it for most of the diesel engines in 1952. The references I have collected over the years have been very helpful to identify cataloged train sets. Before purchasing, I will look up the set to ensure it is complete and accurate. Most times there is no set box with the catalog number, so it helps to research before you buy. I hope this video was helpful! abCe3cqM0gc |
