I crossed over from Canon, having loved the colours, but I was shocked by the camera's perfomance. That was until a stumbled on a trick that seems to crack the autofocus. Compose your shot, put the focus box on your subject, engage autofocus with the focus button and start recording. Then once it starts, press the joystick down on the focus target, or just tap the subject on the screen. It will fix the autofocus instantly.
