Research suggests that there are major health benefits to caloric restriction, like reduced risks of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, immune disorders and many more. Many people suffer from the misconception that fasting will lead to weakness. However, a day of fasting provides rest to the mechanism of the stomach, thereby enabling it to function better and prevent malabsorption of food. There is enhanced production of blood and other necessary chemicals, thereby leading to better overall health. An occasional day of fasting also helps in the better functioning of the liver, pancreas, intestines, kidneys, etc., thereby reducing the chances of ailments related to these organs.
