To all my 40+ male friends, most of us are going through the next phase of our lives. We’re at that age where we see wrinkles, grey hair, and extra pounds. We see the 25-year-olds lads and reminisce. We were once 25, just as they will one day be our age. We aren’t boys anymore. What they bring to the table with their youth and zest, we bring our wisdom and experience. We have raised families, run households, paid bills, dealt with sadness, lost loved ones, and everything else life has assigned us. We are survivors. We are warriors. We are experienced. Like a classic car or a fine wine. Even if our bodies aren’t what they once were, they carry our souls, our courage, and our strength. We shall all enter this chapter of our lives with humility, grace, and pride over everything we have been through, and we should never feel bad about getting older. It’s a privilege that is denied to so many. I don’t ever say I’m 45 years old. I always say I’m at level 45 in life, just like when we were younger and we played video games the aim was to get to the next level...right. Well that’s what you are actually doing in real life. Appreciate it, never think you get worse when you get older. Never fucking settle for the opinions of others. if people say, come on Shiraz you’re getting on a bit, maybe you should slow down your crazy workouts... Because I’m too polite I don’t say it out load but In my head I say Fuck you, I’ll show you. That’s the mantra we all have inside us, when we believe in ourselves. Yes we may look at our past and focus on all the mistakes and things that went wrong, or we could take the lessons from those events and be grateful for them. Because without them, without the hurt, the knock downs we couldn’t have got up stronger, and be the better wiser version of ourselves that we are today. Be proud of all the good and bad things that have happened in the past because both have taught us valuable lessons.
