I finally decided with one after a butt load of research and I am super happy with it so far! In this video, I unbox the Canon EOS 80d and I am pumped about it! I am going to be using this camera mostly for videos, but this camera is loaded with some amazing photography specs like a 45 point autofocus system, 7frames per second continuous shooting, and more. Here 7 reasons why I got this camera instead of others: 1. The flip screen because I am going to be doing a ton of creating by myself so it is handy to be able to frame your own shot while being in front of the camera. Many of the other cameras especially the Sony’s do not have an articulating screen. You can use your phone as a monitor with the Sony’s but I like the handiness of the Flip screen! 2.The autofocusing. Now I haven’t tried it yet, but from what people are saying, the dual pixel autofocus system in this camera is very hard to beat and again when filming by myself it is nice to have face tracking and know I am pretty much always going to be in focus. 3. The touchscreen. This is awesome for navigating through the menu changing the settings looking through pictures or tapping for focus and just an easy experience in the menu 4. That leads me to my next reason, the menu! The Canon menu is much simpler to navigate through, faster to find things, and well laid out. I have tried Sony menus before and they are a lot more complex. Plus with the touch screen, it will be even better so I don’t have to click and click with the clicker a million times. 5. The headphone jack. This will be great for when filming videos I can check what my audio sounds like so I am not guessing until I get to check it in post. 6. Lens selection. This is big because then I was able to get a good variety of lenses on a budget. Sony does not offer many budget lenses at the moment and I am not wanting to spend over a grand for each lens I get right now. Maybe one day. Maybe one day. I also have access to some great Canon glass already, a big plus! 7. In-camera colours! Now with canons, the in-camera color is just beautiful from what I have seen compared to the Sony’s. But with the Sony’s they shoot in a flat picture profile which allows for more play in post when color grading or adding luts. Right now I am not wanting to do a whole bunch of color grading so it is nice to have lots of color straight outa da camera. Now my concerns are the size because I really liked the compactedness of the Sony mirrorless cameras and I was able to use one for a while and loved it for that reason. It is going to take a lot more confidence pulling this baby out in public while vlogging. Most people do not like that it doesn’t shoot 4K but it isn’t a problem for me because I do not think I would be really shooting in 4K a whole lot since the files are so large and most people can’t even watch it on their phone. If I can make a great video that is not in 4K, people are not going to be like it is horrible because it is not in 4K. There are a ton of new cameras out there that are amazing! I choose this one because of those reasons after a ton of research, but it is still an opinion. The GH5 is also a great camera that has 4K and does a ton of the same things this one does, but the autofocus is not as great. So do your research to see what is best for you. I can't wait to start doing some videography, vlogging, cinematography, and picture taking with this camera! I do think this is one of the best vlogging and video creating cameras out there in this price range.
