| Video Discription | Langzhong (阆中) is a county-level city in northeastern Sichuan (四川) province, China, renowned for its well-preserved historic center that dates back to the Tang dynasty. Situated on the middle reaches of the Jialing River (嘉陵江) and part of the Nanchong (南充) prefecture-level city, Langzhong has a population of 880,000, with 250,000 residing in the urban area. This city, once known as Baoning (保宁), has played a significant role throughout Chinese history, serving as a capital for the Ba state during the Warring States period, an important center for astronomical research under the Han and Tang dynasties, and a provincial capital of Sichuan for ten years during the late imperial period. It's also noted for its salt wells and military significance. Langzhong's geography is characterized by low-lying mountains and hills, with elevations ranging from 328 meters to 888 meters. The city experiences a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate, with dry winters and hot, humid summers. The administrative divisions of Langzhong include 5 subdistricts, 19 towns, 3 townships, and 1 ethnic township. Since 1985, the PRC government has recognized Langzhong's historical and cultural significance on three occasions, including naming it a famous historical town in 1986 and upgrading it to county-level city status in 1991.
