For example, in a friendship network where nodes represent people, and links represent friendship between those people, should you be linked to yourself? Philosophically I guess yes, but does that actually add anything to the analysis in the end? 5. 3:15 I really do mean it when I say we are leaving out a lot. I didn’t even go into type resistances and immunities as I felt that would over-complicate the analysis and figures, without actually adding much to the actual “meat” of the theory. For those curious, the type advantage network is probably best described as a WEIGHTED directed network, whereas we considered only a BINARY directed network here. 6. 5:15 These angle brackets are the physics notation for the average of a quantity. 7. 5:28 Theres another property that I didn’t talk about here thats worth thinking about if your keen - the average directed degrees are equal to half the average un-directed degree. 8. 6:09 I should emphasize here that the criterion for connectedness is that ANY node can reach ANY other node.
