| Video Discription | Nādabhṛṅga is pleased to bring you a fantastic instrumental concert from the archives. This is an instrumental ensemble arranged by Vidwan Sriman Karaikudi R Mani under the Sruthilaya project. It was conducted under the auspices of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi, on the 13th of April, 1988. This ensemble performed several times during the late 1980's and 1990's to packed halls. Sri Mani created a revolution of sorts with Sruthilaya, kindling interest in audiences to listen to tāḷa vādya concerts, at a time when audiences notoriously used to leave concert halls in droves at the commencement of the tani āvartana. Through this initiative he proved to audiences that instrumental ensembles and tāḷa vādya concerts could be interesting and engaging. This video recording is offered in memoriam Sri Karaikudi Mani, who passed away recently. The original recording is by ICCR. The video and audio have been digitally re-mastered by Nādabhṛṅga.
