An oral graft was placed during his first stage STAG repair, and a gauze bandage is used to hold the graft in place for one week. In addition to the bandage and catheter removal, you will see a typical appearance after a Snodgrass/Bush STAG hypospadias repair with oral graft. The appearance of the graft is slightly different (paler in color) when penile skin grafts have be used instead. After bandage removal, his family will apply Aquaphor (petroleum) ointment several times a day to the graft for 3 weeks, then start Betamethasone ointment beginning one month after surgery, twice a day for 12 weeks.
