Owners who just cannot bring themselves to throw away their childhood companions turn to clinic founder Natsumi Hakozaki who is able to breathe new life into well-loved stuffed toys using needle and thread, as well as spas with a special soap. The clinic, with six “doctors” on staff, is one of only two stuffed toy repairers in Japan. Yui Kato, who recently went to the clinic with a plush sheep doll she has had for 18 years, said she paid about 100,000 yen (US$959) to fix her treasured toy, but insisted that keeping her childhood memories alive was more important than money.
