| Video Discription | This is the walk to the DC3 plane wreck in Iceland at Sólheimasandur on the southern coast. The walk to Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck (DC-3) takes about 45 minutes or so (one way) from the parking lot. The parking lot is just off the ring road. In 1973 a United States Navy DC-3 plane encountered severe icing and ran out of fuel and crashed at Sólheimasandur on the southern coast of Iceland. All 7 crew members survived and were rescued. The plane was designated C-117D and was based on the Super DC-3.
