After reflecting on this, I would like to become more of a caretaker of my items so they have a longer life, will need to be replaced less frequency and may even be able to be used by someone else in another life. This concept may seem idealistic, and may not translate to food and other items that are designed to break down with use (like pencils) or technology that is increasingly not built to last. Despite that, I would like to hope that this way of thinking and taking action to care more for and repair the things I own goes some way in respecting the people, energy and resources to make these items and also to protect the environment one step at a time. It also means that I will need to be more responsible when introducing items in my life. Can I take care of them? Will I genuinely use this item? Will it create unnecessary waste?
