| Video Discription | Tantalus was a rich but ill-fated king, famed among mortals, but craving the approval of the gods. He dined at the gods table - a privilege few mortals enjoyed. Yet, Tantalus was no grateful guest. In an attempt to test the omniscience of the gods, he COOKED his OWN son and served him as a meal to the gods. But the gods weren't fooled. DISGUSTED and Horrified by his audacity, they restored his son and decided on a punishment fit for such a heinous act. Tantalus found himself in the Underworld where He was placed in a pool of water beneath a fruit tree. Whenever he reached for the fruit to still his hunger, a breeze would lift it just beyond his grasp. Whenever he bent to drink the water to quench his eternal thirst, it would sink before he could take a sip. Tantalus insatiable greed and sacrilege left him forever yearning, but never attaining, the very things within his sight.
