With this year's Black History Month theme, Black Excellence, a heritage to celebrate, a future to build. I want to especially highlight and celebrate Black excellence in the Public Service. Black Public Service employees continue to not only deliver good policies and quality services that Canadians rely on, but are also actively working with us to ensure that the Government of Canada leads by example in addressing anti-Black racism and all forms of discrimination. Many of you are also working hard to coach and to mentor and support your colleagues in the public, and build a better Public Service. We have heard that loudly and clearly, and we know that more work needs to be done to ensure that Black Public Service employees have a safe and inclusive workplace where they can thrive. And we have and will continue to take concrete steps to do just that. As committed in Budget 2023, we will soon announce the details of the Black Public Servants Action Plan, which will support mental health of Black employees and create new programs dedicated to their career development and more. Additionally, this past fall, we announced a panel of experts to guide us on the creation of the Restorative Engagement Program for Public Service employees to identify through open dialogue ways to address harm and promote healing for all employees, including Black employees who have reported experiencing harassment, discrimination, and violence in the workplace. We know that there is still more work to do, and I am committed to working with Black employees and Black Employee Networks across the Public Service to foster a workplace that is not only free from all forms of anti-Black racism and discrimination, but also is actively inclusive and allows Black excellence to succeed and thrive to build a better future for all.
