Regulars at Pioneer Frontier Playground say it's no longer a place for little kids.As the warm weather moves in, Parks and Playgrounds are a common place for kids and families. But, people at this East Ridge park say misbehaving teenagers are plaguing the playground.Mark Brandt is an administrator for East Ridge's neighborhood watch. He's heard from hundreds of parents who want the park cleaned up. He says that there is a lot of horseplay, not watching out for a lot of the smaller children.Among some of their major complaints, inappropriate touching among older teenagers and foul language. Things not currently covered under the rules posted by East Ridge City Council. I think the biggest problem is going to be the language. The inconsideration from the teenagers looking out for the little children, adds Brandt.But not all visitors agree.Kathy Widdon brings her grandson to the park several times a month. She tells us that she's never heard a parent complain. We come day and night and the teenagers have been well-behaved. Parents that's out here say they hadn't seen any bad conduct with the kids. No fighting, says Widdon.The Neighborhood Watch Group says an increased police presence is the ideal solution, but in the meantime, they warn parents not to confront teenagers without an officer present. You can call the police. Get in touch with the police whenever there's an issue down here and they will come and address it. That's going to be the best way to handle this, says Brandt. wuhPB_PRcN4 |
