This upgrade brings all Tesla factories worldwide to the same standards and officially phases out the previous HW3 computer. Tesla introduced HW4 at the Fremont factory in March 2023 for the Model S and Model X. The Model Y received HW4 in May 2023 from both Fremont and Giga Texas. The Model 3 and Cybertruck also received HW4 with their recent launches. The new hardware includes higher quality cameras with a distinctive red tint on the lenses. Giga Shanghai started using HW4 in February 2024, and now Giga Berlin has followed suit. Regulatory approval for the change was received in March, and Model Ys with HW4 cameras were spotted this week.
