Bitta karate aka Farooq Dar was born in Guru Bazar area of Srinagar.Bitta was his pet name and Karate was later added as he is proficient in martial arts. He spread terror in the 1990’s in the valley with his selective killings of Kashmiri Pandits his first victim being Satish Tickoo who reportedly was his close friend. By his own admission he has killed 20 Kashmiri Pandits (actual figure 42). While the families of martyrs are living a life sentence he roams around a free man-was never punished for these crimes even though he admitted guilt on camera.
